Diocesan Survey & Listening Sessions
The Bishop Search Committee is Listening…Come and Share your Voice!
The Search Committee for the 9th Bishop of the Diocese of East Carolina wants to hear from you! As part of the search process, we create a diocesan profile that will articulate who we are as a diocese and where we believe God is calling us to go in the coming years. We will share this profile with the wider Church and prospective bishop candidates, and your input is an important part of its creation.

Listening Sessions
The In-Person Listening Sessions were open for anyone to attend, even those who may also be participating in one of the virtual sessions. Virtual Sessions will take place on Zoom and many are designated for particular affinity groups or clergy roles within the diocese. There will also be two Zoom sessions for Laity who are not able to attend an in-person session. There will also be a session for diocesan staff. These listening sessions will be forward-looking and conversational, during which you’ll be invited to share your answer to these five questions:
- Tell us about something exciting in your worship community and your wider community, and tell us about a challenge in your worship community and your wider community.
- In what ways has the diocese been a blessing to you or your parish?
- What opportunities and challenges face our diocese and bishop in the next five years?
- Jump ahead to ten years from now. What accomplishments do you hope the bishop will have led us to?
- Is there anything you’d want to make sure our new bishop knows about our diocese?
